Hangzhou Bike Scheme
Hangzhou has a fantastic bike share program. It is now the largest bike share program in the world with some 50,000 bikes available throughout the city. The system eclipses the velib system in Paris which has 20,000 bikes. Not bad for a Chinese city and a city with a population of only 2 million in the urban core.
Lets hope that other Chinese cities follow the lead. There has been a lot of talk by Beijing's leaders about introducing a program here but very little action so far. Hopefully we see some more this year.
