Shannon Bufton
Shannon grew up on a farm in Australian and discovered cycling when he was 14 and wanted his own means of travelling.
He has a diverse range of experiences across the territories of architecture, arts and urban development. He has worked previously as an Urban Designer on new Chinese cities and his last role involved being a Planning advisor to the Ruling Family of an Emirate in the UAE.
He is very passionate about cycling; as both a sport and as a means for making our cities more liveable, healthy and sustainable. Now based permanently in Beijing he is combining this passion and his urban development experience to promote bicycle culture as a tool to improve Beijing's liveability and ultimately help it to realize its ambition to become an 'international city'.
Shannon and Liman founded Serk Cycling in 2011. Serk organize events, distribute cycle products and recently opened Beijing's first bicycle cafe/bar and boutique bike shop.

Liman Zhao
Liman is a native of Beijing that grew up in the 'golden age' of the bicycle in Beijing during the 1970's and 80's. She has fond memeries of cycling in city packed full of bikes. From the age of 7 she was traversing her local hutongs and riding her bike to school so she could squeeze in an extra 15 minutes of sleep. From an early age she was addicted to the speed and convenience of the bicycle.
After graduating from University she went abroad for 10 years - living and working in 5 different cities and experiencing for the first time urban environments that were reliant on automobile transportation for mobility.
When she returned to Beijing she resisted purchasing a car in favour of a custom built bicycle. As a 'Lao Beijininger' she is passionate about the benefits of cycling as a smarter urban mobility solution and actually leads by example - riding to work and leisure on a daily basis.
